International Official Announcement of Postal Art

Bird / Model to intervene artistically and fold

You are invited to take part in this initiative which has the objective of showing the decrease in the population of the Red Knot/
Playero rojizo (Calidris canutus), a coastal migratory bird that travels thousands of kilometers every year, from Canada to the south of Argentina. From October to March, it lives on the beaches of Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, where it feeds, rests and changes its feathers. In the year 2000 we were visited by 7000 Red Knot’s. In 2013, only 100. The causes of this decrease are due to the modification of the structure of the beaches because of  the establishment of quarries, housing developments and recreational activities (dogs, quads), which alter the resting places of these birds.
We hope to have  5000 paper Red Knot’s that will symbolize the individuals that we no longer see on our coasts.
The pieces of work received will form part of a group art installation called "Levantando Vuelo",/  which will be mounted at the Museo Fueguino de Arte in Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina; during the month of  October 2014 within the Atlantic Coastal Reserve Bird Festivity.

Unload your model and print it out. Perform your artistic intervention and fold to make your paper bird.
